The female chocolate cichlid did not make it far within AstroTank. She was a victim of conspecies aggresiveness; for an unknown reason. Throwback : the chocolate cichlid "pair" was brought home from an existing chocolate community tank that consists of 2 male and 4 females. From beginning, the two chocolates were not seen to be "nesting" or even settling down within the same spot of the 2,000liter system. They were never seen to be making any breeding attempt; unlike what was mentioned by the LFS that sold me the pair.
I quote, "chocolate cichlid are just as horny as any cichlids and theyre east to breed".
The above statement appears to be otherwise in my case. Now the big male chocolate is on his own; although he was the biggest cichlid in the tank a few months ago, today that spot has been claimed by another american cichlid.
He is Vieja Maculicauda.
